We did this technique to put ear drops in Morks ears.
Boy it was very challenging. Remember if an animal
keeps itching his ears--it means he has an ear infection
or MITES!! Usually ear mites you can see with dirty
specks in ears or by using a q-tip to wipe the ear to see
dirt-it's not dirt. It's mite droppings. You can't get rid of
them by cleaning the ear-only by drops from a vet. Our
little guy had ear infection-he had blood on his pillow.
Lucky for him it was white and we noticed also he was
itching allot too. $25 for vet visit $15 for ear swab test
$20 for ear drops... affraid

PostSubject: Ferret Ear Mites   Thu 09 Apr 2009, 9:33 pm

Yeah, I suspected that my ferrets had ear mites, but when we took them to the vet on tuesday, the vet said it didnt look like ear mites but she gave me ear drop cleaner. The next day we used the ear drops and they stopped scraching at there ears so much. I'm still a little suspicious about the mites though, so i'm probably going to do a swab test when we go to the vet for there distemper shot in a week.

Your vet shouldn't have GUESSED if he had mites or ear infection Evil or Very Mad ...she should have TESTED your ferrets EARS??? Not just give you ear cleaner without a swab test???....speak up for your babies next week MAKE her test the ears. Remember YOU are paying the VET so YOU are the vets BOSS.

Woah your vet fees are very cheap lol!
I have to get them vaccinated against rabies and distemper this summer and its 40$ for the vet visit, 20$ and 15$ to get them vaccinated (I don't remember what price is for each vaccination lol)

I usually go to the cheaper vet closer to us though they were afraid
Mork's ear bleeding could be more serious so they had us go there.
The even Cheaper vet has FREE visit for shots at $12 and $15. That's
the way it should be for our furry friends. Ferret
